FAST23 - Las Vegas - May 8 - 10, 2023 - William Heuser

It was a quiet night on the ambulance for paramedics Alex and Sarah until they received a call for a cardiac arrest in a nearby apartment complex. They quickly sprang into action, grabbing their gear and rushing to the scene.

When they arrived, they found a man lying on the floor, unresponsive and not breathing. Alex began chest compressions while Sarah prepared the defibrillator. They worked together like a well-oiled machine, following their training to the letter.

Despite their efforts, the man remained unresponsive. They continued to perform CPR and deliver shocks with the defibrillator, but nothing worked. It was as if the man was already gone, and they could do nothing to bring him back.

Scratching their heads and preparing to intubate, Sarah reached into the jump kit and pulled out a medication vial. It was part of their RSI formulary. There is no use in using RSI for cardiac arrest… right?

William Heuser is speaking at FAST23 about RSI and do any of these medications have actual application in cardiac arrest. With so many new theories and controversies, William Heuser will demystify RSI and cardiac arrest.
