An Incredible “Feet”

FAST23 - Las Vegas - May 8 - 10, 2023 - Allison Herman

Samantha had been a paramedic for years, but nothing could have prepared her for the unexpected delivery she was about to perform. She had been called to the scene of a car accident, but when she arrived, she found a woman in the midst of giving birth.

Samantha quickly sprang into action, calling for backup and assessing the situation. The woman was clearly distressed, and Samantha knew she had to act quickly. With no time to spare, she jumped in to deliver the baby.

As she worked, Samantha felt a wave of panic wash over her. She had never delivered a baby before and was terrified that something would go wrong. But she pushed her fear aside and focused on the task at hand.

After what felt like an eternity, Samantha finally delivered the baby. The newborn cried, and Samantha breathed a sigh of relief. But then she noticed that the baby wasn’t breathing properly. She quickly began to administer CPR, praying that she could save the tiny life in her hands.

Just as she was about to give up hope, the baby began to breathe on its own. Samantha felt a rush of relief and joy wash over her. She had done it. She had delivered a baby and saved a life.

As the ambulance arrived to take the mother and baby to the hospital, Samantha felt a sense of pride and accomplishment. She had faced her fear head-on and come out victorious. She knew this experience would stay with her for the rest of her life.

In the following days, Samantha couldn’t stop thinking about the baby she had helped deliver. She checked in on the family, and when she learned they didn’t have much money, she rallied her colleagues to gather donations. It was the least she could do after everything they had been through together.
