[Week 1] EMT Basic

This 14-week distributive-hybrid online course provides a comprehensive introduction to Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) principles. The curriculum covers foundational emergency care, safety protocols, basic resuscitation techniques (including airway management), trauma and bleeding control, medical emergencies (including an introduction to pharmacology), and considerations for special populations. Grounded in evidence-based practices, the course is designed to prepare students for initial EMT-B certification, refresh existing knowledge, and develop skills for effective prehospital care. Delivered through FlightBridgeED’s Emerge Learning Management System (EmergeLMS™), the course is organized into weekly modules, discussion forums, educational content, assessments, test-taking strategies, and regular knowledge evaluations. Participants progress at a guided pace, with mandatory weekly discussions to ensure active engagement and understanding. Completion of all discussions and assessments is required for successful course completion.
